Here is the frame for my new shop, 16ft Yurt. The walls are Ash and the rafters are Ironwood. It's built in the traditional methods save for nylon string instead of rawhide. I used Paul King's book you can view it online for free here. It a pretty good book but the instruction/plans need a little tweaking in my opinion.
I'll be sewing my walls and top cover up in the next 2 days. I did some trial sewing last night with an antique machine I bought from a local sewing machine merchant. It should work well and it's almost bullet proof. They rarely make machines like this anymore, now they are all plastic. More to come as I fit the cover and move in.

Hmmm, I don't see where you can view the book, just order it. Did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteErik, I changed the link. You can see on the side bar the different aspects of the construction from the book.
ReplyDeleteYou might like this for additional yurt design notes along with tipis and domes if you aren't familiar with the website already.
